Stephany Castillo: The Story Behind Unique Horse Farm
The United States is home to a growing community of Pura Raza Española breeders. Yet, women remain a minority in the world of breeding, selection, and the preservation of this remarkable breed.
Today, we speak with USPRE member and one of our SICAB stand sponsors, Stephany Castillo, owner of Unique Horse Farm, whose passion for the Spanish horse has transformed a lifelong dream into a promising breeding program. Founded just five years ago, Unique Horse Farm was born from Stephany's admiration for the Pura Raza Española.
A defining milestone came on November 24, 2025, when Unique Horse Farm was officially registered with both USPRE and ANCCE, reaffirming its commitment to breeding and promoting the Pura Raza Española under the highest international standards.
Today, Unique Horse Farm is more than a breeding operation. Stephany Castillo is helping strengthen the future of the breed in the United States while inspiring a new generation of women to pursue their place within the PRE industry.
Do you have any fond memories of your first contact with a Spanish horse?
The first time, I was a little intimidated. But when the horse lowered its head, something changed. I walked over and kissed it, and in that moment I felt its nobility and trust. I was going through a difficult time in my life, and that day, without a single word, the horse gave me confidence, humility, and a sense of peace that I deeply needed.
What do you like most about the Spanish horse?
The versatility of the Spanish horse is truly unique. The P.R.E. has it all: beauty, talent, nobility, and versatility in one extraordinary horse.
What do you think about the PRE breed in the U.S.?
The Spanish horse is growing tremendously in the United States. The Latino market embraces it for dancing and exhibitions, while the American market is increasingly recognizing it as a sport horse. I believe it has a very bright future.
You recently attended SICAB. What was your impression of the event?
I felt like Alice in Wonderland.
How does SICAB compare to other major horse events worldwide?
SICAB is unlike any other event. It is truly unique: the birthplace and ultimate celebration of the Spanish horse.
How was your experience at Fiesta Ocala 2025?
I believe it is on its way to becoming the SICAB of the Americas.
What inspired you to start working with Spanish horses?
I fell in love with the Spanish horse. It helped me through some of the most difficult moments of my life and became an important part of my personal growth. The Spanish horse will always have a special place in my heart.
What message would you give to young women in the U.S. who dream of working with Spanish horses?
Go for it. It is a wonderful career path with a bright future.
Do you think the presence of women in the PRE industry will continue to grow in the coming years?
Absolutely. Women are a lot like the Spanish horse; we are versatile, passionate, and intelligent.
