Announcing 2015 Year End Awards

At the Member Dinner on Thursday, January 28, in Wellington, Florida, USPRE announced the Year End Award winners for 2015.  Since its inception, the United States PRE Association has presented a slate of special distinction awards at its Annual Open Membership Meeting.  The following recipients were selected this year by the Board of Directors or by their results in the ANCCE-sanctioned Morphology Competitions.  USPRE wishes to congratulate the following Members for their exceptional achievements in 2015.
Horse and Rider of the Year:  At the USEF Festival of Champions in August at Lamplight Equestrian Center, long-time HGF working student Kerrigan Gluch and HGF’s Vaquero were named USEF Reserve National Champion for Young Riders. In their first year together, and their first year at the Young Riders level, 18 year old Kerrigan and 8 year old Vaquero have made steady progress from national shows to international shows, to eventually a Bronze Medal at North American Junior Young Rider Championships and now the Reserve National Championship.
Member of the Year:  Dr Ariel Martinez.  Dr Martinez continues every year to support not only breeders and competitions in southern California and Nevada but the organization of USPRE itself.  In 2015 he invited and welcomed USPRE to his and Jesus Jimenez (a past winner of this award) booth at SICAB.    He is one of our founding members of USPRE and has consistently been a good friend of this organization and a leader in the community of breeders.
Equestrian of the Year:  Daniel Martin Dockx has ridden Grandioso III to two Olympics, a World Equestrian Games, and two European Championships in the last four years.  As the highest ranked Iberian horse in the FEI World rankings for the past 3 years, Grandioso and Martin Dockx have raised the visibility on the capabilities of the PRE in international dressage competition.
Morphology Awards are presented to the Stallion, Mare and Functionality winner that have achieved the highest points of the year across all ANCCE sanctioned morphology and functionality Competitions.  Unusually, this year we had two horses in such close contention, we have two “runners up” for two of our Awards.  The 2015 winners are:
Mare of the Year:  Luna CCXCIV, owned by Dr Ariel Martinez, Rancho El Encanto
Runner-Up for Mare of the Year:  Que Logica MOR, owned by Las Morerias
Stallion of the Year:  Remarche MOR owned by Las Morerias
Breeder of the Year:  Las Morerias
