On January 10 and 11, 2015, Coto de Caza Equestrian Center welcomed esteemed equestrian David Hunt from England for a dressage clinic.
“Coto” is a beautiful and well planned Equestrian Center with big stalls, many arenas, including an oversized covered ring with excellent footing.
Riders can stable their horses for clinics and rests assure the horses will be very well taken care of. 300 horses are permanent residents!
David Hunt is the President of the International Trainer’s Club as well as one of the Supervisory Judges at certain Equestrian Competitions, such as the Olympics, World Equestrian Games etc.
David has a long history of working with PRE horses as he for many years has been going to Spain for clinics.
This clinic we had two PRE Horses in the group. One 7-year old stallion, Receloso, owned by Johanna and Steve Strunk and one 10-year old gelding, Orive Yet, owned by Theresa and Alan Reese.
Orive and Barbro Ask-Upmark (trainer/rider) worked on tempi changes, pirouettes and half steps the first day. Theresa worked on precision, lateral work and flying changes the second day.
Orive and Theresa have been showing Third Level with scores in the upper 60’s. They are both ready to do Fourth Level this coming season. Barbro will show him Prix St George.
Receloso and his trainer/rider Gail Smith worked a lot on the basics, such as straightness and forwardness. It was first time out for the stallion and he behaved very well!
We thank US.PRE. for sponsoring the two horses with two nice pads!
David is giving clinics in CA every 6 months and we are happy to welcome more PRE horses in the future.
