On June 27th through June 29th, members of the American dressage community from across the country swarmed San Juan Capistrano, California for the U.S. Olympic Selection Trials that determine the riders that will be on the U.S. Olympic Dressage Team competing next August in Hong Kong. The audiences were treated to spectacular performances, flawless tests, incredible scores and fabulous freestyles. The Olympic Trials concluded with Steffen Peters, Debbie McDonald and Courtney King being selected to represent the United States.
Representing USPRE, Kimberly Van Kampen Boyer, President and Janne Rumbaugh, Vice President were also in attendance to applaud our U.S. Olympic contenders including Rociero XV and Kristina Harrison. Rociero is currently recognized as the highest ranked PRE dressage horse in the country following the path well established by Gaucho III and Triumfador.
The California visit of several of our USPRE officers also offered an opportunity to meet with members of our Breeder’s Committee to review and discuss progress being made with the upcoming Ignacio Bravo Garcia clinic and the 2008 Feria Del Caballo Espanol horse show. The meeting concluded with a visit to the stalls of Grandioso (owned by Kimberly) who is in training with Olympic team member, Courtney King.
